CPO1 Public Inquiry

In November 2015, the Secretary of State confirmed a Compulsory Purchase Order (CPO) on 34 leaseholder properties on the West Hendon Estate.

The decision followed a Public Inquiry in January 2015 which allowed full public scrutiny of Barnet Council’s request to take possession of properties included in the regeneration masterplan area. An inspector was appointed by the Secretary of State (SOS) who prepared a report based on the evidence presented at the Public Inquiry and provided conclusions for SOS to determine the CPO request.

The confirmation enables Barnet Council to purchase the land needed as part of the plans to regenerate the area.

The CPO covers 34 long leaseholder interest properties that fall within Marriotts Close, Franklin House and Tyrrel Way. It also includes the whole of Parade Terrace, Nodule Mansions and a small number of properties on West Hendon Broadway.
